Biography
Derby Teh is a Korean language educator with extensive academic and professional experience in Korean language education. She holds a Master of Arts in Teaching Korean as a Foreign Language from Ewha Womans University, South Korea, where she was awarded the prestigious Global Korea Scholarship (GKS), and obtained a Korean Language Teacher Certificate issued by the National Institute of Korean Language (국립국어원). Derby has been teaching Korean since 2020 and working as a freelance Korean interpreter since 2022, supporting assignments in K-pop events, tourism, and business settings. Her scholarly work includes a master's thesis in Korean language education and a co-authored peer-reviewed journal article. Beyond academia, she has held Korean-speaking roles across the tourism, finance, and e-commerce industries, further strengthening her expertise in cross-cultural communication. Her professional interests include Korean language pedagogy, pronunciation instruction, and promoting meaningful cultural exchange between Korea and Malaysia.
